Dear Readers:

Wow, what a summer! The weather has been outstanding! Each year, I can’t wait for summer to begin, but it seems that once we hit July 4, the rest of the summer just flies by. And now, it’s August – let’s enjoy it!

We have another awesome issue of the Seven Mile Times for you. Great features this month include catching up with Craig Whitehead, a 30-year veteran of the Avalon Beach Patrol; celebrating a milestone anniversary with American Legion Post 331 in Stone Harbor; and boys from the legendary Friday on My Mind house from the 1970s in Avalon are coming back to town for a last call – we’ll tell you about them.

And, of course, we have all of our regular features you’ve come to expect, including: Events at a Glance and our calendar – everything you need to know and everywhere you need to be in August … August Must Haves – ways to make sure you’re cool for the rest of summer … Chef/owner Bill Selgrath of Sylvester’s Fish Market & Restaurant will share his recipe for blackened flounder – a summertime favorite! Plus, there’s Night on the Town, Smilestones, Beach Reads, and our DVD movie report.

As always, thanks for taking the time to read the Seven Mile Times. We understand the summer keeps you busy and we are so thankful that you’ve chosen to spend time with us.

Please continue to support our local businesses, stay safe, and continue to enjoy this amazing summer.

Stay well,
