Owner Debra Klebanoff said her goal is to have it be a welcoming space brimming with homey comfort so all customers can enjoy a personalized shopping experience.

“Our guiding principle when buying for the store is to offer something just right for everyone,” Klebanoff says. “We are looking at lots of different styles and labels, both time-tested and emerging. It’s like a treasure hunt. The end result is a curated selection of beautiful clothes within reach, and for all.”

Armadillo, Ltd., owned by Jacquie Ewing and John Bell, has been the place in Avalon to shop for unique gifts, home items and more for 20 years.

“Armadillo, Ltd. carries an eclectic mix of items, including tabletop – from flatware to stemware to serving pieces for indoor and outdoor dining,” Ewing says. “Plus, LAFCO candles, Baroque pearl jewelry, Vietri, Beatriz Ball, and many others.”

One of the few places on Seven Mile Beach with daily year-round hours, Ewing says Armadillo’s specialty is giving the customer a fun and friendly place to shop while helping them select the perfect gift for any person in their life.

“My store’s mantra has always been ‘Be Inspired, Be Inspiring’,” Eger said. “I style my store in this fashion and treat our customers in this manner. I want each customer who enters my store to find a look that is all their own and to feel completely comfortable with their purchases.”

The Gingy Collection, launched in 2014, includes print designs and styles unique to Gingy’s, and 2021’s Fennerton Collection brought a balance of cotton products to the nylon/jersey collection.

“Because we are a mother/daughter team, we hope to appeal to both mothers and daughters, and grandmothers, too!” said Betsy Tremblay, who helps her mom, Jean Tremblay, run all three Gingy’s locations. “We love working with everyone who walks in the door. We hope to find you just what you are looking for so that you feel fabulous when you leave!”

“A family-run business where customer service is our priority,” Marsh says when asked to describe the store. “We are a lifestyle store selling eco-conscious brands fit for everyone. Men, women, kids, surfers, golfers, happy-hour go-ers – we have something for everyone!”

“We offer a refreshing collection of swimwear and clothing that strives to appeal to mothers and daughters alike,” Jones says. “We love to host girls’ nights out or charity events at our store!

The Good family – owners Wil, Elaine, Corinne and Brooke – has been outfitting Avalon and Stone Harbor with comfort clothes for summers down the shore since 2003. Their classic Avalon tees, sweatshirts and blankets, casual resort wear from women-owned brand Santiki, and girls’ Three Friends dresses and skorts perfect for twirling make them a staple shopping spot. And they do their own designing and imprinting themselves.

“We have provided custom screen-printing services for local businesses on the island, including Sundae Best, Kohler’s Bakery, The Mouse Trap, Isabel’s and Shore Sports Camp,” Corinne Good said. “If you’ve purchased a onesie from Kohler’s or a tee from Sundae Best, you’ve enjoyed something from our family.”

Lady Lanell’s may be a new addition to the Stone Harbor shopping, but Lanell Fagan has been selling her handcrafted Swarovski crystal sandals (and more!) in boutiques and beyond for more than 20 years.

“We customize that look that works for anyone,” she says. “Our focus is just to make you beautiful from the inside out and from head to toe – from skincare to jewelry to dressing you to makeup.”

In the Stone Harbor store, Fagan stocks everything from Circadia and Glo makeup and skincare to organic Infinity Sun spray tans to Simba Jewelry to clothing from RNWY, Indah and, exclusively, Wrap Up by VP loungewear. Plus, she’s offering a weekly resin art class for handcrafted charcuterie boards and more.

With its iconic bright bohemian prints and signature shift dress silhouettes, Lilly Pulitzer has become the authentic resort-wear brand everyone knows and loves. Lilly Pulitzer recently celebrated its 60th anniversary as a brand, and it has been bringing its beach-chic style to Seven Mile Beach since the Avalon location opened in 2017 with one-on-one clienteling and try-before-you-buy online reservations.

Even the décor has a unique surprise from their design studio team, says regional manager Adele Bellitta.

“All of our stores, including Avalon, are hand-painted by our Print Studio team,” says Bellitta. “No two stores are alike — every one is a must see!”

In the three years since it opened its location on Dune Drive, Louella has quickly become an Avalon shore staple for resort-chic clothing and accessories. Owner Maria Delany said she tries to stock fair-trade, made in the USA, and women-owned brands whenever possible.

“We definitely have a resort vibe,” Delany says. “We cater to women from 18 to 80. And we carry a lot of dresses, coverups, embroidered tops – everything you want to wear at the beach or on a resort vacation.”

She Be Surfin’ is a unique all-girls surf boutique catering to tween, teen and college-aged girls who want to get out on the water – or just enjoy their time at the beach in comfort and style. “For years, I’d always noticed when I would go into the surf shops that they cater to men, and they’d have to small section of girls’ stuff kind of shoved into the back or upstairs,” owner Colette Brogan says of why she opened the store. “So, my idea was to create a store that made girls comfortable shopping.”

So Soleil, a boutique in Stone Harbor owned by Tracey Gerhart, never stops changing. The store has added countless clothing and home décor brands to its shelves over the past few months – from Johnny Was to Trina Turk to Dolce Vita and more – all to cater to its wide audience of all ages of Stone Harbor beach shoppers.

“The most common thing we hear from time to time is, ‘I didn’t know we needed this until now,’” says Emily Pfeil, who handles the store’s social media. “When you walk in our store, you will see everything from flamingo wallpaper to skateboards dangling from the ceiling.”

From vegan leather bags and hand-painted scarves to Wallaroo hats and old-fashioned Stone Harbor post cards, Stephanie’s – owned by mother/daughter duo Angela and Stephanie DiMuzio – has been supplying Stone Harbor with a little bit of everything since 1990.

“We try to have gifts for occasions that people need and want,” Angela says. “So, there’s really something for everyone here. And we have such wonderful customers who keep coming back to us every year.”

Stephanie also sells her hand-painted artwork – plus her card line Fine Art Expressions featuring her beautiful paintings – and teaches art classes.

“As a longstanding women’s clothing store on the Island, we have cultivated a selection of brands that allow us to style clients of various tastes,” Wierzbicki says. “And we love nothing more than to see two or three generations of women shopping and enjoying their vacation time together.”

Wave One in Stone Harbor is your one-stop shop for casual, quality athletic apparel for everyone. Colette Brogan, who owns the store with business partner Peter Oppenheimer, said their specialty is Avalon and Stone Harbor-branded sweatshirts, T-shirts and shorts for all ages.

“We also carry Under Armour and Nike, and we also put Stone Harbor and Avalon on those brands,” Brogan says. “So that kind of sets us apart a little bit.”

The store also carries Wave One-branded items, plus a wide variety of accessories, shoes and sandals, including new FitFlops.
