ST. BRENDAN CELEBRATES WEDDING OF THE SEA

History was made on the Seven Mile Beach on Saturday, Aug. 15, when St. Brendan the Navigator Parish celebrated the first Wedding of the Sea in its 110-year history. The event started on the recreation fields at 82nd Street followed by a procession to the beach where Rev. William Kelly celebrated the Blessing of the Sea. It was estimated that nearly 1,000 people participated in person at the field while the event was livestreamed for those who could not attend. The surf provided a rocky ride for Father Kelly, but the Stone Harbor Beach Patrol crew provided a safe trip out and back. All in all, a pretty spectacular afternoon.
