The ‘Friday On My Mind’ Reunion

DSC_4096.JPG

You might have read about them in our August issue. A group of guys in their early 20s moved into a rental in Avalon on Memorial Day weekend, 1975. They spent the next eight or nine summers in the house they named “Friday on My Mind.” After all the good times, everyone moved on and went about their lives, although they all remained friends and Avalon always remained in their hearts.

On Aug. 12, for the first time in 40-odd years, they got back together on the old front porch one more time for their “last call.” Smiles were everywhere as memories flowed from housemates who came from as near as Avalon and as far as Texas and Florida. The inhabitants of the “Friday on My Mind” house were back in town and it was clear that they made lots of friends four decades ago, as evidenced by all who showed up at The Princeton to say hello once again. A legendary house and a legendary group of people. Who says you can’t go home again?
