Jason and Tadhg Campbell of Slack Tide Brewing Company are excited to announce the company’s upgrade from a three-barrel system to a 10-barrel system. Facing increasing demand, the brothers originally looked at a seven-barrel system, but when American Beer Equipment had a 10-barrel system available for a great price, it was a no-brainer. The timing also worked in their favor as they acquired the building unit next door for added space. Slack Tide Brewing Co. will now be able to make three times the amount of beer they could make in one batch with the three-barrel system.

“We just couldn’t keep up with demand, so we started looking in February at new systems and we narrowed it down,” says Tadhg Campbell. “We went with the 10-barrel system and it will help us keep up with our draft accounts and be able to get more beer out to bars and restaurants. We’re trying to grow organically – we are locals and this is where we live and this is where we like to be. We like our product to be synonymous with people coming to the shore.”

The 10-barrel system will brew the flagship beers and produce the beer to be distributed outside of the tasting room. Slack Tide Brewing holds 15 accounts, mainly in Cape May County. With the new system, the brothers would like to expand to 50 accounts, including Atlantic and Cumberland counties. Although not in the original plan, they decided to keep the three-barrel system as it allows them to offer more beer varieties in their tasting room, including experimental beers.

The brothers’ goal is to maintain creativity, innovation and flexibility in their beer selections and to create beers that appeal to a variety of tastes. Their beer names feature nautical themes, except for their stout beer, “Monkey Face,” named in honor of their late mother. On average, the tasting room offers eight to 10 selections.

Slack Tide Brewing Co. opened in 2015. The brewery, located off Route 83, features a unique tasting room and is open year-round. Wednesdays are “Randall Wednesdays,” when customers are able to try unique brews such as the brown ale “Bucktail,” infused with cracked coffee beans, and the American Indian Pale Ale “Angry Osprey,” infused with smoked hot peppers. Customers can also join the Slacker Mug Club for great deals on merchandise, access to mug club events, and invites to special-release and members-only parties. Club members also receive a special 20-ounce mug.

Slack Tide Brewing Co. is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-8pm and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon-8pm. Be sure to stop by and check out the new system, pick up some Slack Tide swag and sample its popular beers.

7MBCA WINS AWARD FOR BEST BROCHURE

The CTM Media Group has recognized the 7 Mile Business Community Association (7MBCA) as a winner in its 2017 Annual Best Brochure Awards for the Mid-Atlantic Region. The tri-fold “Indulge in Avalon” brochure was selected from among 4,300 tourism brochures in more than 30 states and provinces. Winners were announced in October at CTM’s annual meeting in Rye Brook, N.Y.

“We are thrilled that CTM has recognized our cooperative ‘Indulge in Avalon: Shop. Dine. Relax.’ brochure,” says Jacquie Ewing, president of 7MBCA. “This tri-fold brochure features participating Avalon businesses of all types. Seven Mile Publishing and their great design team created this fabulous and fun piece for us with colorful graphics and local photos. It’s a comprehensive document that showcases all that Avalon offers in one compact, portable document. Many of our patrons carry it around for easy reference. Without NJDOTT Grant funding and the support of our local business partners, none of this could happen. It’s great news.”

The award recognizes excellence in brochure design and highlights tourism attractions, restaurants, museums and destinations. The selection committee also takes into consideration the brochure headline, construction, content and overall appeal. The “Indulge in Avalon” brochure lists more than 120 Avalon businesses in categories such as retail and dining establishments, accommodations, real estate and more, accompanied by the business address and phone number.

For the past three years, 7MBCA has worked with CTM Media Group to distribute the brochure to tourism centers along the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, the New York State Thruway and the Connecticut Turnpike.

Grants awarded by the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism (NJDOTT) have underwritten the cost of the distribution and have allowed 7MBCA to extend its outreach. Each year, 7MBCA submits its strategic marketing proposal to the NJDOTT in a highly competitive process to receive the grant funding. The Cooperative Marketing grant funds all the marketing expenses necessary to promote Avalon as a premier vacation destination, including the “Indulge in Avalon” brochure.

The 7MBCA sponsors the upcoming Festival of Trees and Festive Friday to be held over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Maria Toczylowski’s Beach Dwellings Design was recently honored by The LuxPad as one of the 25 Best Interior Designers in New Jersey. The online magazine selected 25 interior designers from all over the state that showed excellence in design and a good mix of classic, traditional and clean-cut modern trends.

“I am genuinely honored to be included in this list of designers,” Toczylowski says. “It was such a nice recognition of my body of work. I couldn’t be happier. I have had a passion for interior design my entire life, and am thrilled I get to fulfill that passion every day.”

Toczylowski started turning her passion into a career in 2004 after attending the Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and the New York Institute of Art and Design in their interior-design programs.

In addition to the recognition from The LuxPad, she has been named Best of Houzz Service and Design for three years in a row and has been featured in several national magazines, including Cottage White and Seaside Style. She is also an HGTV Designer and is featured on the HGTV website as one of its professional designers. Most recently, one of her completed projects was featured on the Cape May Regional 7 Mile Island Designer House Tour in August. The home is on a spectacular lot with bay frontage, and is very contemporary in style. From start to finish, she had fun working on the project and working with her client.

“I am fortunate to have incredible clients who have varied styles and tastes,” says Toczylowski. “My projects have ranged from beach cottage, traditional to modern and everywhere in between. I truly look at every project as brand-new opportunity and never duplicate from one home to another.”

Beach Dwellings Design recently moved its storefront from 21st Street in Avalon to 96th Street in Stone Harbor. The new location is more of a design studio, with a furniture setting for clients to sit and see the quality of the manufacturers with which Toczylowski partners. The transition from her retail space to the design studio allows Toczylowski to concentrate on the design aspect and work one-on-one with her clients.
