“My dear partner, when what’s left of you gets around to what’s left to be gotten,” says Phil Davis, “what’s left to be gotten won’t be worth getting, whatever it is you’ve got left.”

Hands down, the best Christmas movie in my opinion – “White Christmas.” And when Davis (played by Danny Kaye) persuades Bob Wallace (Bing Crosby) to host a holiday show at the empty Inn among the pine trees of Vermont, I settle in and get ready for an evening of singing and snow.

So how fun is it that Stone Harbor, our own perfect holiday locale, is transforming into Pine Tree Harbor and promising a white Christmas – or at least a white Thanksgiving! Join in for a full weekend of family fun and hands-on activities complete with crafts, performances, movies and, of course, snow!

Start the weekend on Friday, Nov. 23 with Breakfast with Frosty at Coffee Talk and then gear up for a holiday scavenger hunt (both Friday and Saturday) starting at Pine Tree Harbor. Where is Pine Tree Harbor, you ask? Head over to Stone Harbor’s Water Tower Plaza for carnival games, crafts, rides and more from 10am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday.

Other Friday activities include letters to Santa at Seashore Ace; a show starring Andrew, Santa’s Toy Testing Elf; the annual Paw Prints Parade and a Yappy Hour following the parade at The Walk.

Stick around Friday evening for pictures with Santa at the firehouse from 5-7pm, and not one but two tree lighting ceremonies. Start at The Reeds at Shelter Haven for a sing-along, tree lighting and, of course, cozy refreshments. Then join Stone Harbor Mayor Judy Davies-Dunhour and Borough Council members for the town’s lighting of the official Christmas tree, with a weather prediction of, you guessed it – SNOW!

Merchants’ Hospitality Night will follow the tree lighting through 9pm, featuring refreshments throughout local stores, and then rest your feet with a toasty s’more at one of the many fire pits stationed throughout 96th Street.

Lace up the sneakers on Saturday for the annual Downtown Holiday Dash with Mayor Davies-Dunhour, for ages 6 and up. Dress in your most creative and silly costumes for a fun run along 96th Street at 10am.

Pine Tree Harbor returns for Saturday along with various activities hosted by local stores including a Story Hour with Mrs. Claus at the library, glitter tattoos at Marabella’s, a magic show and face painting at Hoy’s and much more.

Join Santa and a number of local organizations and fire companies for a festive holiday parade starting at 6:30pm! And if that’s not enough of a fun-filled weekend, warm up with refreshments and holiday movies showing at the Harbor Square Theatre following the parade.

From Frosty to Snow Globes, Santa to scavenger hunts, rides, magic and more, this Island Holiday is not one to miss. Grab the kids, grab the gloves and scarves, and be prepared to be amazed at a small-town celebration that is anything but small!
