Letter from the Editor

Dear Readers:

Ho! Ho! Ho! I can’t believe the holiday season is here already. I’d swear it was just Memorial Day weekend! Where did the summer – no, where did the year go? As much as I love summer here at the Jersey Shore, there’s nothing quite as magical as the holiday season on Seven Mile Beach. From the shops on 96th Street to the twinkling lights down Dune Drive, each town takes on its own special personality during this season. It’s the best!

Speaking of the best, I think we’ve saved the best for this, our last issue of the year. Our holiday issue is jam-packed with lots of great reading …

First, we have holiday happenings and our events calendar. If it’s happening on Seven Mile Beach between now and New Year’s, this is the place to find out about it. There are always numerous changes over the winter, but this year there are probably more than most. Dave Coskey looks at the changing business landscape here on Seven Mile Beach. One landmark that’s staying put is Stone Harbor’s old Pebbles Guest House. Linda Dougherty tells us about all the amazing renovations going on there. I hope that you’re hungry, because we have many dining options to tell you about. We’ll find out what Murray Wolf did on his first summer vacation in more than 50 years, and we’ll learn about a Stone Harbor local who has written a popular children’s Christmas book. Finally, Marybeth Hagan explores the lifetime and the legacy of John Roberson, a coach, a friend, a mentor, and a man who called Stone Harbor home.

So please take time to look through all 100 pages. There’s a ton of helpful information and interesting reading.

And if you haven’t already, please plan to spend some time in the shops all around Avalon and Stone Harbor. They’re packed with great gift ideas for everyone on your list. Who needs Amazon when you can find what you need right here on our magical island?

Finally, with the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, I’d like to take just a minute to offer my own thanks. First, to you, our thousands of readers. I understand that you have choices. That’s why I sincerely appreciate that you’ve chosen to read Seven Mile Times. And thanks, too, to our advertisers, who make it possible for us to continue to entertain our readers, at no charge, year after year. From all the families involved in our operation, please accept our sincere thanks.

So, enjoy the holidays. Create some new special memories, stay warm, and most of all, stay safe. We’re already working on the Spring 2022 issue of Seven Mile Times and we can’t wait to connect with you then.

Wishing you and your family the merriest of Christmases, the happiest of Hanukkahs, and a happy and healthy New Year.
