Australia is a world away from Cape May County. But you can soon experience a bit of the land Down Under when the Cape May County Zoo opens its new habitat for five red kangaroos and two emus.

Summer Nature Camp is back at The Wetlands Institute! Campers will enjoy a week (or more) discovering the New Jersey Shore in a fun and interactive schedule of activities geared to each age group and theme. Participants will engage in science experimentation and exploration; play games; embark on fascinating field trips; explore the beach; create arts and crafts, and enjoy the day in nature.

Happy spring! We’ve weathered a winter of social distancing, and, while still not quite “normal” yet, life is significantly better with a little spring in the air – and for some of us, with a little vaccine in the arm.

It’s been a long and interesting winter, and I’m happy to say I spent a lot of time in front of the fireplace catching up on some great books. The spring column of Beach Reads is my chance to tell you all about the books I read over the winter, especially my favorite ones that I don’t want you to miss. From a mistreated enslaved woman trying to find a new life in Gettysburg to hotel guests trapped in the Swiss Alps, there is something here for everyone.

Spring is here and everything feels like it’s new again! The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, the temperature is warming up, and there are a ton of new titles to help you pass the time until you can hit the beach again.
