There’s always something happening on Seven Mile Island. From summer concerts and family festivals to holiday parades and seasonal celebrations, Avalon and Stone Harbor offer a full calendar of events to enjoy all year long. Check out what’s coming up and make the most of your time at the Shore, there is fun for every age and interest.

Irene Neuwirth Pop-Up at Trendz
You are invited to a special event showcasing the latest artistry of Irene Neuwirth, a designer known for her whimsical use of color and exquisite one-of-a-kind creations. From beach to barn to special events, this is jewelry to fall in love with. Trendz can’t wait to share it with you!

Avalon History Center Presents: Teddy Roosevelt
Teddy Roosevelt, who ascended from the vice presidency to become the 26th president when William McKinley was assassinated in 1901, was one of our most impactful presidents and a champion for the designation of national parks. Jerry McNeff will present a program on a man who lived a fascinating life in his 60 years.

Festival of Lights Boat Parade
The Yacht Club of Stone Harbor’s Festival of Lights boat parade is a can’t-miss tradition in Stone Harbor. The theme for 2025 is “Cities, States & Landmarks.” The boats will travel along the basins on Stone Harbor’s waterways. Visit their facebook page fore more information.

Fishing with the Mayor
Kids ages 5-12 are invited to join Avalon Mayor John McCorristin for a morning of fishing. There are only 25 spots available, so registration is recommended. Register online at avalonrecreation.recdesk.com.

Summer Spotlight Series: “Shiver Me Timbers!”
“Shiver Me Timbers,” presented by the Riddlesbrook Theater Co. and sponsored by the Avalon Library, is a spectacular Caribbean adventure that will get your heart racing! Take a journey with Captain Blunderbuss as he tries to locate the loot before he is captured by the British! Suggested for ages 16+. A two-night event. No registration or tickets required.

Horseshoe Crabs: Living Fossils at the Beach
Every spring at the shore, our beaches get visited by a living fossil: the horseshoe crab. At this presentation, attendees meet and learn all about the horseshoe crab, discuss why so many animals (including humans) rely on them to survive, and the research and conservation efforts here at The Wetlands Institute. The event is cosponsored by the Avalon Library and the Environmental Commission.

Kwiat Pop-Up at Trendz
This summer, Trendz is excited to welcome the Kwiat collection to the family. Kwiat is known for its timeless diamond jewelry, exceptional craftsmanship, and heritage elegance. This weekend will feature an expanded collection of its iconic creations. From everyday to extraordinaire, discover what makes Kuwait pieces so timeless!

St. Brendan the Navigator Parish Wedding of the Sea
All are welcome to join Father Raymond Gormley, the pastor of St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, for the annual Wedding of the Sea celebration. There will be a 10:30am outdoor mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, followed by a procession to the beach and ocean. The pastor will then be taken in a boat by the Stone Harbor Beach Patrol to bless the sea.

Cedar Island 5K Swim
It’s time to make a splash and test your swimming stamina again. Join in this counterclockwise swim sponsored by Tim Kerr Charities that goes with the current in the beautiful back bays of Avalon. Swim all the way around Cedar Island, a marsh island at the north end of Avalon’s back bay. This event was voted one of the top 100 swims in America. Proceeds will go to the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Operation Rebound, which supports injured veterans and first responders.

Summer Spotlight Series: Magic and Illusions with Anthony Salazar
International sensation and award-winning magician Anthony Salazar will delight the audience with comedy, illusions, sleight of hand, and impossible feats. Guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, this thrilling experience is a must-see! Suggested for ages 16+. No registration or tickets required for this Summer Spotlight Series event.

Tour Through Time Gala
Join the Stone Harbor Museum to raise funds to support the mission and development of the museum. Tickets are $150 per person. Please call the Stone Harbor Museum for tickets at 609-368-7500 or visit the website.

Introduction to Hydroponics
Participants will learn the basics of small-scale hydroponics, the benefits of growing without soil, and how to grow fresh greens and culinary herbs. Presented by Jen Sawyer Caraballo, Rutgers master gardener coordinator. Registration is required. To register, call 609-967-7155.

Library Escape Room
Grab your family or a group of friends and see if you can escape from the library’s Escape Room, new for 2025! Groups will register for a specific time and will have 30 minutes to solve the puzzles and find the key! Best for up to eight individuals and ages 10+. Registration is required, and is now available to Avalon property owners. All others may register beginning Aug. 5. To register, call 609-967-7155.

Temple St. Clair Pop-Up at Trendz
Enter the enchanted world of Temple St. Clair, where mythology, art, and nature come to life in luminous gold and vibrant gemstones. Family Fun Week
Wrap up the summer with Avalon Library’s Family Fun Week, featuring special events Monday through Friday. Monday will feature the Penguin Pointers from Jenkinson Aquarium. Tuesday will be an all-ages Story Time, Wednesday will feature The Spoon Man, and Thursday will feature a Magic and Illusion Workshop. Come out on Friday to be amazed by The Give & Take Jugglers’ show.

Summer Spotlight Series: Dr. Doug Tallamy
Author Doug Tallamy returns to Avalon! Using chickadees and other wildlife as guides, Dr. Tallamy will explain how plants that evolved in concert with local animals provide for their needs better than plants that evolved elsewhere. In the process, he shows how creating living landscapes by sharing spaces with other living things will not reduce our pleasurable garden experiences but enhance them.

Paper Peddler Trivia Night
Gather a team of friends and demonstrate your knowledge of Avalon’s rich business history and culture in a Quizzo-inspired trivia game! Enjoy old photographs, stories, and memorabilia. American Legion Pancake Breakfast
Kick off your morning with a warm and satisfying Pancake Breakfast that supports the American Legion Post 331! Enjoy a stack of fluffy pancakes and friendly conversation with neighbors. Presented by Stephen C. Ludlam Post 331, this beloved community event is a great way to connect and start your day right.

Tim Kerr 7 Mile Island Run and TK 5K Run/Walk
End the summer racing series with a bang and race seven miles along the Seven Mile Beach at the 36th Annual Tim Kerr 7 Mile Island Run and TK 5K Run/Walk. Summer Spotlight Series: Jo Piazza
Jo Piazza is a best-selling author, podcast creator, and award-winning journalist. Avalon History Center Open House
Please join the Avalon History Center to see new exhibits, learn about the history of Avalon and enjoy locally made light refreshments. Attendees will also have a chance to learn about the History Center’s various initiatives and participate in our ongoing video and oral history programs.

Avalon Players Presents: Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella”

Santa's Stone Harbor Vacation
Ever wonder what Santa does in the summertime? He makes his way south to Stone Harbor every July to relax. From July 22-25, Santa will have both scheduled stops and spontaneous visits around downtown Stone Harbor. There will also be photo ops at a Stone Harbor lifeguard boat in the center of town. Stop by the Welcome Center to see his scheduled stops throughout Stone Harbor.

Summer Spotlight Series: Author David Grann

Broadway Meets the Beach Concert

Avalon Beach Classic 5K Run/2 Mile Walk + Kids 2K/1K Fun Runs
The Avalon Beach Classic offers a day of family fun with a run (or walk) for everyone. Experience the thrill of racing along the sandy shores, with the refreshing ocean breeze and sparkling sea by your side! Proceeds will go to the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children located in Avalon.

Murray Mile Ocean Classic + The Murray Half
The Murray Mile Ocean Classic affords the public the opportunity to race the lifeguard ocean course in Avalon. New to open-water ocean swimming? The Murray Half mile option has been added to the lineup! This event is named after Murray Wolf, who served as the Avalon Beach Patrol captain for 65 years until his retirement in December 2021. Proceeds will go to the Avalon Beach Patrol Alumni Association.

The Fabulous Greaseband
The Avalon History Center is proud to bring The Fabulous Greaseband to Avalon’s own Surfside Park. Join us as the legendary band returns to their Sunday night stomping ground while Bringing Back the Bongo Room! Bring your beach chairs, your dancing shoes, and your memories to this special event. Blueberry Festival
Join the members of Our Saviour Lutheran Church for the 24th annual Blueberry Festival. Enjoy an evening of fellowship featuring fresh blueberries, blueberry desserts, and live music. All donations benefit the community programs provided by Our Saviour’s Parish Nurse Ministry.

Stone Harbor Triathlon
Get ready for a test of endurance at the Stone Harbor Triathlon, where participants will swim a quarter-mile in the bay, bike 11 miles through town, and finish with a 5K run. This event is perfect for those looking to challenge themselves and support a great cause. Donations will benefit the Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.

Tim Kerr Charities 1.2-Mile Bay Swim
Swim your heart out in the first race of the Tim Kerr Charities Open Water Summer Series this year. This 1.2-mile bay swim starts on the 5th Avenue & 20th Street public dock, and you’ll swim with the current all the way to the Avalon Yacht Club. For your convenience, there will be a shuttle running from the Community Hall to the 5th Avenue public dock. Proceeds will go to the Avalon Fire Rescue Water Safety Team.

Flip Flop Walk
Join the Storbeck family, who founded this event, and The Parkinson Council as they celebrate the 16th annual Flip Flop Walk that starts at Avalon Community Hall. This family-friendly event raises awareness about the impact of Parkinson’s disease, as well as funds for research and comprehensive care to improve the quality of life for families living with Parkinson’s in our region.

Fearless: The Taylor Swift Experience
Swifties unite at Surfside Park! You won’t want to miss the award-winning tribute act Fearless: The Taylor Swift Experience in Avalon. Ages 12-14 are invited to visit the Game & Craft Zone Fridays at 11am from July 11 through Aug. 15. This week, we’ll make friendship bracelets in preparation for “Fearless: The Taylor Swift Experience.”
