Challenge Island: Ski Slalom Speedway
The STEAM Teams will learn about the Alpine Skiing Sport of Slalom and Slalom Superstar Mikaela Shiffrin. We will discuss the forces of gravity, friction, centripetal force, and air resistance in slalom skiing. Next they will design a prototype and collaborate with their team to design a Ski Slalom Speedway that functions like the prototype and have slalom races.

Celebrate the New Year with a family-friendly event in Avalon! Ring in 2026 at Surfside Park with Avalon’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks Celebration. Come at 3:30pm for an early celebration, followed by a dazzling firework display over the 35th St. Beach at 5pm.

Tales Well Told: Seasonal Surprises
Join us at the history center for some seasonal tales of Tales Well Told presented by Michèle LaRue. She has toured nationally performing her one-woman plays for more than 23 years and has collaborated on numerous prominent theatre publications as an editor and writer.
