Letter from the Editor
Dear Readers,
It’s that magical time of year again … when lights twinkle, carols play, and our towns transform into something truly special. From Avalon’s tree lighting to Stone Harbor’s parade, the holidays on Seven Mile Beach are filled with joy, tradition, and community spirit.
We’re celebrating all of that and more in this issue.
On page 22, we honor Marilyn Hahle, the SHPOA Person of the Year, whose kindness and dedication continue to make Stone Harbor a better place for everyone. Joanna Gorecke invites us to “Start Your Happy Holidays With Us” on page 28, capturing the festive charm of Thanksgiving weekend at the shore. Looking for a little inspiration? “Holiday Must Gives” by Jennifer James Davenport (page 30) features thoughtful, locally inspired gifts that make giving just as joyful as receiving.
Mary Byrne Lamb’s “It’s in Their Blood: Seashore Ace Celebrates 80 Years” (page 34) tells the story of a family business built on hard work, integrity, and heart. Flip to page 42 for “Bernie Parent: The Flyers Legend Who Spent His Golden Years in Avalon Making Us Smile” by Al Morganti, a moving tribute to a man whose spirit will always be part of this community.
Outdoor entertaining writer Jean Miersch shares “Let’s Host a Holiday Cookie & Cocktail Swap” on page 62, proving that celebrations are even better under the stars. And as the season gets busy, “Thrive Through the Season” by Dr. Seema Rathi Bonney on page 88 offers helpful reminders to slow down, stay well, and truly enjoy this time of year.
As we wrap up another year, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our loyal readers and especially to our advertisers. Your continued support allows us to share the stories, people, and places that make this island such a special community.
From all of us at Seven Mile Times, may your holidays be filled with warmth, laughter, and memories that last well into the new year.
Warm regards,
Monica Coskey
