The Stuff of Legends: Carmen O'Hara Wraps Up MTHS Lacrosse Career With 102-Goal Season
Middle Township senior Carmen O’Hara capped off her high school athletic career with a lacrosse season that won’t soon be forgotten. A dual-sport athlete and team captain, Carmen made her mark on both the lacrosse and soccer fields.
Carmen scored a jaw-dropping 102 goals this lacrosse season, bringing her total career tally to an incredible 203 goals. It’s a milestone she had her eye on from the very beginning of the year. “I was really happy to reach that,” she says. “I had thought it was impossible.” The achievement also helped earn her First Team All-Cape Atlantic National Conference honors, a well-deserved recognition.
Her favorite part of the game? Scoring goals, of course. But for Carmen, it wasn’t just about the numbers. “I loved all the friendships I made throughout the four years I was at Middle Township and across all the lacrosse teams I have been a part of,” she shares.
Middle Township had a successful lacrosse season overall, finishing 15-4 and exhibiting strong team chemistry. As captain, Carmen played a key leadership role in keeping the team motivated and focused.
Carmen also played four years of soccer, bringing the same dedication and energy to the field. Though lacrosse is her standout sport, she says soccer has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.
Off the field, Carmen is looking ahead to an exciting future. This fall, she’ll head to James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., where she plans to study business. But first, she’s looking forward to working at Uncle Bill’s Avalon this summer.
Reflecting on what sports have taught her, Carmen says it comes down to persistence and community. “I never gave up on it,” she said of lacrosse, “and I’ve met some amazing people along the way.”
Congratulations to Carmen on an unforgettable season and a bright future ahead.
