Kendell McCabe
JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY
Kendell S. McCabe, daughter of Shannon and Terrence McCabe, graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in health sciences. During her time in college, Kendell was a member of the Sporting Clay Club, the Horseback Riding Club, and the Ski Club. She also became fluent in American sign language. Kendell returned to Avalon this summer to spend time with her parents, her brother TJ, her grandparents, and her cousins. Her father began coming to Avalon as a child, and she has followed suit, spending every summer on 46th Street. You can find the McCabes out on the water, enjoying Avalon’s bay. In June, Kendell began a new role as a fitness and activity coordinator at The Mansion at Rosemont, a HumanGood retirement community in Delaware County, Pa.
Bradley Whiteway
U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY
Ensign Bradley Whiteway graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., on May 20. The son of Jeffrey and Andrea Whiteway, of Avalon and Potomac, Md., he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. At the academy, he served as co-captain on its nationally ranked sailing team. He spent his summers as a cadet training in Key West, Fla., and Portsmouth, Va., and sailing across the Atlantic Ocean from Sweden to Bermuda on the Coast Guard tall ship, Eagle. Beginning this summer, he will be stationed in Charleston, S.C., on the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter James. He spent his youth years in Avalon, coaching and racing with the Avalon Yacht Club, where his father currently serves as Vice Commodore. In 2024, he and his father won the U.S. Adult National Sailing Championship’s Mallory Cup. He is a graduate of the Georgetown Preparatory School Class of 2022.
Mason Blizzard
RUTGERS UNIVERSITY-CAMDEN
Mason T. Blizzard, the son of Brenda Laws and stepfather Rey Laws, graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers University-Camden with a bachelor’s degree in science at just 20 years old. He was able to accomplish this feat because while he attended Middle Township High School, he received an associate’s degree from Atlantic Cape Community College. During his college career, Mason played for the Raptors baseball team and was the starting catcher during the 2026 season. He was also a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma. He plans to continue his education at Rutgers-Camden for his master’s in finance. He will continue to play for the Raptors next season as a team captain. Mason is spending his fifth summer working on the Miss Avalon, where he serves as first mate. He plans to fish and spend time with friends before returning to school.
Maggie Davenport
WILDWOOD CATHOLIC ACADEMY
Maggie Davenport graduated from Wildwood Catholic Academy, where she completed her senior year of high school. Maggie was class salutatorian and earned first honors in every marking period of her high school career. She was captain of both the varsity soccer and cheerleading teams and ran on the track team. Maggie received academic awards in Spanish and science, as well as many community awards. During the summer months, you can find her waitressing, spending time with her friends, and catching some waves. Maggie is the daughter of Patrick and Jennifer Davenport of Wildwood Crest. Her mom is the associate editor for Seven Mile Publishing. This fall, Maggie will attend Villanova University, where she plans to study exploratory science.
Ava Stone
WILDWOOD CATHOLIC ACADEMY
Ava Stone, the daughter of Nick and Joanna Stone of Avalon, graduated from Wildwood Catholic Academy. Ava is a third-generation graduate of Avalon Elementary School and has been actively involved in Avalon sports and recreation programs throughout her childhood. Ava was awarded the 7 Mile Award in eighth grade in recognition of her dedication to the community. During the summer months, she works at Oceanside Seafood in Avalon. This fall, Ava will attend Immaculata University, where she plans to study early childhood education.
