Fourth of July Activities

AVALON

The holiday weekend kicks off early on Thursday, July 2, at Surfside Park from 6:30-9pm when Thursdays at Surfside presents a reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by live music from American Soul. On Friday, July 3, the energy continues with a golf cart parade and live music from Nashville Express at 6pm at Surfside Park, bringing entertainment, music, and a playful atmosphere that fills the park.

On Saturday, July 4, the town comes together for one of Avalon’s most beloved traditions: the Boat Parade. Boats set sail through the back bays at noon, offering a scenic moment that feels like classic Avalon. As dusk falls, crowds gather along the beach for Avalon’s signature fireworks display, launched from 30th Street. Known as the largest fireworks display in South Jersey, the show begins at 9pm and is choreographed to music, visible along the entire shoreline, and creates a memorable end to the holiday weekend. STONE HARBOR

Stone Harbor brings its own brand of Fourth of July charm. The borough will host its iconic fireworks display on Friday, July 3 transforming the holiday to a full on Independence Weekend celebration. Friday evening unfolds at the 82nd Street Recreation Field, where locals and visitors gather as the sounds of Jim Bannach and the BLT Orchestra fill the air. As the sun sets on a packed day of community fun, everyone makes their way to the beach. Around 9pm, all eyes turn skyward as fireworks launch from a barge off 96th Street, lighting up the ocean sky in a classic shore finale.

Saturday features a lively morning of friendly competition and creative flair. By 10am, the town buzzes with races, contests, and the home run derby. At the heart of it all is the decorated bike parade, a vibrant showcase of red, white, and blue creativity. There will also be a decorated golf cart parade at noon, beginning at St. Paul’s parking lot and ending at the 82nd Street Recreation Field. There will be two Declaration of Independence reading events; the first will be at the 101st Street gazebo at 10am and the second will be at the Pump House on 96th Street at 11:30am.

Enjoy an “easy Sunday” at the weekly farmers market, open 8am-noon. This event offers rows of fresh produce, baked goods, and seasonal blooms. It’s the perfect summer morning packed with all the simple pleasures that make a day at the shore feel just right. For more information, visit shnj.org.
