FINN SULLIVAN ATTENDS DISNEY DREAMERS ACADEMY
Finn Sullivan, the son of 7 Mile Publishing & Creative designer Kim Brooks and Shawn Sullivan, recently attended the 18th annual Disney Dreamers Academy in Orlando, Fla. Finn was chosen from among thousands of applicants from across the country. The Academy builds a cohort of 100 students, #Be100, and the high school students win an all-expenses paid trip to Walt Disney World to attend an empowering mentorship program.
While there, Finn was interviewed on 6abc and attended classes that were geared toward his personal career goal of becoming a music educator who works for inclusive opportunities for all types of learners.
One of the highlights of his experience was being on a float in the Magic Kingdom parade and hearing celebrities, entertainers, and business executives speak about how to achieve great things. It was a magical experience for Finn, who graduates from Collingswood High School this June.
AVALON MARKS ARBOR DAY WITH NEW TREE
The Avalon Garden Club and the Environmental Commission celebrated Arbor Day with a tree planting on Friday, April 25. This year’s addition was a London plane tree, planted on the 35th Street Dune Drive island. A hybrid of the native sycamore and the non-native Asian plane tree, the London plane is known for its rapid growth and large, maple-like leaves with a thick, sturdy texture. Garden Club president Pat Fleischmann welcomed attendees at the event and received an official proclamation on behalf of Mayor John McCorristin, presented by Councilman Jaime McDermott. This annual tradition reflects Avalon’s continued commitment to environmental stewardship and community beautification.
PLAY WITH JACK FASHION SHOW A BIG DRAW
Pink was the color of the afternoon as 130 guests gathered on Saturday, April 26 for the annual Play with Jack Foundation Fashion Show, celebrating this year’s theme: Pretty in Pink. Guests enjoyed a lovely lunch, raffles, and fabulous outfit selections from Gingy’s – all while supporting an incredible cause.
The Play with Jack Foundation was created in honor of the late Jack Cremin. Funds raised help lighten the burden from those battling cancer. The fashion show is one of two major annual events – next up is the Play with Jack Golf Outing on Friday, Sept. 19 at Avalon Golf Club.
