Days Gone By - May 1965

We’re going back to Memorial Day 61 years ago, May 1965. Stone Harbor celebrated Memorial Day by having its beach patrol row wreaths out to sea in a lifeboat. Watching the festivities are Eric J. Arenberg, commander of Stephen C. Ludlam Post 331; Mrs. Marian Hornsby, president of the women’s auxiliary of the post; and Mrs. Stephen Meader, the mother of PFC Stephen C. Ludlam, the American Legion post’s namesake. He was killed in action in Ostheim, France, on Jan. 25, 1945, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously.
