There is always something a little bittersweet about Labor Day weekend. It may mark the traditional end of the summer season, but here on Seven Mile Beach, there is still so much to look forward to.

Few influencers will ever match the online fame of Stephen Sharer. The influencer, 28, has been making YouTube videos for more than a decade and has amassed more than 20 million followers across his social media accounts on YouTube and TikTok, in addition to billions of total views.

Natives of the Argentina port city of Buenos Aires are commonly known as porteños, or “people of the port.” Chef Lucas Manteca is a porteño himself, but when it came time to name his latest culinary venture, the name “El Porteño” felt too masculine for the James Beard Award nominated chef and his wife and business partner Deanna Ebner.

Last December, Patrick Casey and Wil Cosgrove met in a Lancaster Starbucks and decided to bike across the country.

“We just started picking points on a map,” says Cosgrove. “It became real.”

The Wetlands Institute’s 12th annual Summer Celebration at the ICONA in Avalon on Saturday, July 25 drew a whopping crowd of 230 and raised $370,000.

The Avalon Players, founded in 1969 to give children the chance to participate in a professional, family-friendly theater experience with musical productions, presented “Grease: School Version” over four evenings in July at the Avalon School auditorium.

And that’s a wrap! Another summer season is in the books. We’ve certainly enjoyed our share of sunny, steamy, spectacular days, but I’ll say what I say every year at this time: September is simply the best.

Earlier this summer, I wrote about one of my favorite parts of returning to Avalon each season: catching up on what’s new.
